Manama, Kingdom of Bahrain – 3rd December 2019 – Central Bank of Bahrain (CBB) Governor Rasheed Al Maraj was conferred the Lifetime Achievement Award at The Banker Middle East Industry Awards for his 14-year contribution to shaping the financial and banking sector in the Kingdom of Bahrain and the region.

The award recognizes the outstanding efforts of Mr. Al Maraj, who was appointed as Governor in 2005. Under his leadership, the CBB continued to develop the regulatory environment for the financial and banking sector and to undertake major initiatives in conventional and Islamic banking, insurance, payment systems and financial technology (Fintech).

The Banker Middle East Industry Awards are organized by CPI Financial to recognize and honour the institutions and individuals that are driving the Middle East’s banking and financial industry forward.
